About the Author:
Hi there. I'm Lani Rossetta. And thanks for coming to my website. As you can see, I have a passion for three things: yoga, raw food and labyrinths. I have worked with children all my life, having had four children, been a school teacher for 12 years, run a healthy vegetarian foods snack bar at a local YMCA, taught vegetarian cooking classes to moms who had small children, and authored several books, and games, some not in print.
I returned to school and became an occupational therapist and worked again, for 11 years in the schools, assisting children who had gross and fine motor difficulties as well as perceptual and other learning problems. I used labyrinths as a tool to increase these skills. The children benefitted so much from drawing labyrinths, making 3-D desktop labyrinths from various materials, and walking through and playing games on chalk labyrinths drawn on school yard asphalt. Out of this work came the two books on labyrinths that I wrote. Also, working with children with coordination and balance difficulties, and having an interest in yoga, myself, I wrote and illustrated the 3 yoga books for children, listed on this website.¬İThey tell a story, have drawings or photos on every page and the children, ages 4 to 9, love doing these exercises.
Through my work at the YMCA, I co-authored a book, not now in print, "We Love Your Body", that was both a nutrition and a recipe book, created to help mothers get their kids off junk foods and to make healthy and tasty alternatives. Some of these recipes are in my raw foods book, "Lose Weight with Live Foods." I believe everyone should eat as much raw as they can and less processed foods. It's easy, once a person has some recipes and ideas. The ones in all my raw foods books have tasty recipes the entire family can enjoy. And the children can help make them. How easy it is to put in some bananas and oranges in a blender with a little water, blend, add a handful of Romaine lettuce or spinach and have a very nutritious, alkalizing smoothie. See "Go Green and Get Lean," for the importance of adding greens to our diet. My latest book, "Chia Seeds: Bursting with Energy" contains over 150 recipes, mostly raw (there is one chapter of delicious transition recipes-barely baked), containing chia seeds - ground, whole or in a gel. Chia has so many benefits - calcium, protein, Omega-3 fatty acids, minerals, fiber, and ENERGY. Just a slightly nutty taste; they can be added to almost anything you make.
At the time of this writing, I am a grandmother of 9 healthy grandchildren, teach yoga to adults twice a week at a local health club, and teach Awesome Rawsome Food Preparation classes (locally). I am a co-labyrinth facilitator at a local hospital and spend my spare time hopping on my pogo stick, reading, knitting, making quilts and cloth dolls and enjoying the deer, birds and wild turkeys that fly and roam our property. I like to hike, bicycle and travel. And eat, of course. Mostly raw, but also slightly processed and cooked vegan foods (no animal at all-including no dairy or eggs).
So, I'd love to hear from you via my email address. I might have a blog on my site down the road. But I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have about my books - about food, chia seeds, kids, yoga and labyrinths. Be sure to check out FAQs on this site.
